If your doc doesn’t believe you have an allergy to polyethylene glycol, offer this link to a Danish study published in the journal Clinical and Experimental Allergy by Dr. Emily Cathrine Wenande. She posted the below article in a facebook group you might want to join called Rare Allergy in the U.K. – Polyethylene Glycol
Dr. Wenande writes:
This is an initial step in getting this rare but difficult condition recognised in the medical community at large. The review compiles all published cases of PEG hypersensitivity since 1977 (with many still surfacing at present), describing culprit agents, synonyms, symptoms, allergological testing (with an algorithm), potential immunological mechanisms and risk of cross-reactivity. Feel free to look it over and/or share it with your doctor.
We are very grateful for Dr. Wenande’s research and look forward to hearing more from this powerful ally!
